LOVE LOOKS AS BEAUTIFUL AS A ROSE

What is our first duty or
obligation? To be ourselves. By being ourselves
we will have much more to offer others. I say,
pooh to peer pressure! It is better to be a
first rate version of yourself than a second
rate version of somebody else. On this fresh
day, let us resolve to be ourselves and in doing
so find a piece of our destiny as well~

But now in Christ Jesus, ye who

Jorja's
Musings
Pressure and well, what’s new?
Wow…..(and not “word on wings”). Wow,
as in three whole weeks of school
already done. I am sitting here in my
kitchen, soft music playing, coffee in
front of me, puppy laying quietly
chewing on her bone, thinking what a
quiet peaceful week I have had…….NOT!!
Let me tell you:
It is always a little “crazy” the first
few weeks of Kindergarten. Seventeen “
little people” coming in with their
energy, spirit, and their first
experience of sitting still for more
than five minutes in their very
“mature” five year old bodies. Ok….I
can deal with that. I’ve been there
before….I know it will get better…..but
let’s look at this week together.
We were in the middle of instructional
time (you know, learning the abc’s and
all the other important things that five
year olds learn), when eight adults
walked into our room to observe one
little boy who was new to our class.
They decided to hold many side
conversations and interrupt the class
with their little talks, cell phones and
other distractions. Well, our little
class soon turned to chaos. My desk had
gotten overtaken with work (to be
honest, I couldn’t even find it) and
every two minutes I heard..…”go see Ms
Wasmundt, she will take care of you”.
Ms Wasmundt, Ms Wasmundt, Ms
Wasmundt. I at one point turned to
someone in the room and told them I was
going to look for Ms Wasmundt and if
they saw her, let her know I was
looking. PRESSURE
I
was so glad to get in my car, after
spending an extra 30 minutes of overtime
(without pay) with my “first grade
grandson, Cole”. He was bouncy, full of
pent up energy, ready to “rock and
roll”. I finally said, “Cole, Nonnie
has had a hard day, (as Dr Seus would
say….”a terrible, horrible, very bad
day.) I really just need a little quiet
time on the way home”. After a few
minutes he quietly asked “did you get
too much homework, Nonnie? “PRESSURE
I
arrived home seeking peace and
found…..the hot water heater in the
garage had “sprung a leak”. OK, that
was the end of my “perfect” day.
NO…..not yet! My new little puppy,
Miley, started acting funny….shaking all
over. Of course I had to get her
checked……(I really do love Smiley Miley
Morkie, even though she is always
getting into something) and found she
had an ear infection. PRESSURE
I’m trying, as my dear husband said on
his facebook status, to be real…..so I
will admit….this was a week of
PRESSURE!! (not to mention the ticket
that my “macho, Dale Earhardt,” husband
got while rushing to meet me and his
father at a restaurant ) I must admit
to you that I broke down crying at
school , stepped out of the room and the
loving little ones wanted to know why my
nose was so red when I walked back in.
There are times in our lives where it
seems that we are just plain and
simple….at the boiling point. Just too
much pressure. Opening my Bible this
morning I was drawn to the book of James
1:2
“Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when
tests and challenges come at you from
all sides. You know that under
PRESSURE, your faith-life is forced
into the open and shows its true
colors. So don’t try to get out of
anything prematurely. Let it do its
work so you become mature and
well-developed, not deficient in any
way.”
Hebrews 12 finishes my thought with
this:
“God is educating you; that’s why you
must never drop out. He’s treating you
as dear children. This trouble you’re
in isn’t punishment; it’s training,
the normal experience of children. God
is doing what is best for us, training
us to live God’s holy best. At the
time, discipline isn’t much fun. It
always feels like it’s going against the
grain. Later, of course, it pays off
handsomely, for it’s the well-trained
who find themselves mature in their
relationship with God.”
So, as I close this “musing” I must
admit…..I DON’T LIKE PRESSURE (I’m the
one that has the coffee pot ready the
night before, clothes laid out and
lunches made, so that I won’t have
pressure rushing in the morning). BUT,
If I truly believe He is working all
things together for my good, then I say
OK God,……Boil me some more…..just be
with me in the fire.
