About David M. Wasmundt - History

David Wasmundt has proven himself in a myriad of ministry arenas to have exceptionally distinctive and rare ministry insights. He has a unique ability to address “existing” and “relevant” concerns that face the church of today. In addition to drawing from an anointed, Biblically based foundation, he also draws from his thirty five years as a senior pastor and counselor, combining candor, common sense and humor to his subject material. With this enlightening approach, he is able to demystify and remove the unnecessary clutter of religious tradition while still reinforcing the gospel message.

David attended his first year of a four year Bible college education at seventeen years old, was married at eighteen, to Georgia (Jorja) Wood his childhood sweetheart; became a father at twenty and a home missions pastor by his twenty-second birthday.  In 1973 David formed “The Singing Evangelos,” a fulltime gospel singing group.  The “Evangelos” were known for their unique harmony and a wide range of musical genres they incorporated in their ministry.  The group members were David and his wife Jorja, five year old daughter Michelle along with David’s brother, Steve and his wife Shae. The Evangelos ministered to hundreds of churches across the states and also to various conferences and crusades.  They recorded five albums of songs that David composed, many of which found their way into the current worship stream at that time.  When it became apparent that David and Steve's families were to be blessed with additional family members, David returned to a stationary ministry and became pastor of a church in Sandusky, Ohio.

During the twenty two years of ministry in Sandusky, David and "Jorja" lead a starter church through many levels of Christian ministry, outreach and influence.  For twenty two years David provided leadership through preaching, teaching, personal administration and oversight. As a result the church evolved into an established congregation of Christian growth and achievement  During this time a Christian School was initiated, a new church was built on five prime acres of land, a radio and TV ministry were established; and a fifty voice youth choir was established and led by David’s brother Steve and his wife Shae. The choir contributed greatly to ministry objectives by impacting the local church, as well as making vital connections with other local churches.  The choir performed in annual Martin Luther King Day observances at the city high school and gained national prominence by touring annually through-out the nation.

In 1992, David established himself as a compelling and insightful Christian author with his first book, Neo-Phariseeism.  In time he began writing weekly columns for several local newspapers.  Finally, David mentored over a dozen lay ministers, some of whom are now pastors of successful and growing churches. In 1996, David felt lead to move south and begin a new phase of his ministry.  From 1998-2004, David was senior pastor of Christian Life Center in Atlanta Georgia. He reestablished and advanced the church that was fractured by chronic splits and transitional disarray by identifying systemic problem areas and initiated strategies to restore a foundation of stability, vision and new growth.  After thirty five years of non-stop ministry David took a well deserved sabbatical and it was during that time that he developed Word on Wings Ministries, which has helped countless spiritually abused believers as well as transitioning pastors in need of encouragement and counsel.  While currently administering WOW, David is looking for direction for the next phase of his ministry.
